Question: Do You Need Maintenance?

Question

Let us explain.

Congrats! You’ve taken the plunge and invested in the landscape of your dreams. After all the work you’ve done, you will want to make sure it lasts for years to come.

So do you need maintenance? Definitely. A better question would be, how much is enough? For example, one of our most popular landscape features, decomposed granite, is extremely low-maintenance. However, it still requires regular weed-pulling and weed-spraying; as would a succulent garden. Observe your landscape closely and take note of how often you need to de-weed it. Even timed irrigation needs to be monitored by an experienced professional to ensure your plants are getting the amount of water they need, at the proper intervals. Other simple steps such as pruning and trimming go a long way towards keeping your yard looking great.

If you have had new plants installed, they need time and extra care in order to acclimate to their new homes. Heat, weeds, and fungi are just a few threats that young plantings must be protected against in order to take root and thrive. Regular maintenance will also proof your yard against invasive plant species and insects by catching any problems early, thus saving you from having to overhaul your yard in the future.

The most important thing to understand about your landscape is that it is a living, breathing organism. Even a simple planter needs some attention at least every few months. Ongoing, professional maintenance is essential to encourage and preserve the beauty of a yard. With a proper maintenance program, your landscape will flourish year after year.
